It did not help that the English translation of the game was barely passable, making the less than coherent storyline even more incomprehensible. Even though I did have such familiarity, there were still times that I had to consult the Lovecraft wiki. Again, if you had no prior knowledge of the various places or characters referenced, you could easily get lost. characters would sometimes mention names or proceed to certain areas with no preceding explanation of who those individuals were or what the significance of certain places were. There also appeared to be gaps in the narrative- e.g. While there were attempts to create an interesting story, I found that, unless you had familiarity with the larger Lovecraftian mythos (and not just the works authored by Lovecraft himself), this part of the game was difficult to appreciate. So I finally defeated all the Old Ones and can now render my full opinion of the game.
